What is breast revision?

A breast revision surgery takes place after an initial breast surgery to correct or revise results. Patients often come to us for a revision when they have had an unfavourable result from a past surgery with another surgeon, have had a change of heart about how they would like their breasts to appear, or have concerns about how their surgical results have changed with age or life changes. Breast revision surgery can address a variety of concerns including asymmetry or implant size or shape. We love working with patients to help fix, correct, and revise results so they can feel great about their breasts again.

What are my breast revision options?

Each breast revision is based on individual needs, so the surgical specifics vary. Breast revision surgery can include a combination of techniques including a breast lift, breast asymmetry correction, or surgery to correct surgical outcomes like nipple size or placement. Revision surgery can also involve replacing or removing existing implants. FORM Face + Body specializes in breast revisions, and our dual aesthetic and reconstructive training and proficiency allows us to deliver a beautiful, natural result.

What are the risks of breast revision?

The risk profile for these surgeries is generally low but depends specifically on the procedures selected and the nuances of your breast revision surgery. The risks that patients face during and following breast revision are highly dependent on the individual patient and the details of the revision performed. More details can be found on our specific pages for Breast Augmentation, Breast Lift, and Breast Reduction.

Revision surgery is common and can be rewarding, with confidence-inspiring results. Feeling great about your surgical outcome can make clothing and bathing suit selection much easier, and allow relief from concerns about past surgical results.

What to Expect From

Breast Revision Surgery

Revision procedures depend on the details of your revision; the difference between implant correction, breast lifts, breast asymmetry correction, or a combination of corrections ranges a great deal. Breast revision surgery can consist of a combination of techniques to address different concerns. Our surgeons will guide you through each step through consultation, surgery, and recovery to ensure that you know exactly what to expect based on the nuances of your surgical procedure. You can learn more about the specifics of breast procedures by looking at our pages for Breast Augmentation, Breast Lift, and Breast Reduction.

Recovery from surgery will depend on the specific procedures that are part of your revision surgery. Recovery will vary from 2-8 weeks, based on how invasive your surgery is. Your recovery will be gradual from day one after surgery and your surgeon will guide you through this process. We will follow you closely at the start of your recovery, and will continue to follow up with support at regular intervals long term.

Depending on the type of revision, you will likely have bandages that will remain in place until your first follow up visit. You may have intravenous pain medication if you stay in hospital and you will be given oral pain medications and antibiotics for your initial recovery at home. Depending on the type of procedure and your support at home, it can be arranged for a nurse to come to your home at regular intervals to help with both drain care and bandages.
