Thank you to Madison for sharing her story with us! At 23, Madison opted for a breast reduction with contouring liposuction with Dr. Jalil. Patient names and images have been changed.
When did you start thinking about breast reduction surgery? What were the goals you were hoping to achieve?
“My motivations for getting surgery were my back pain and my self-image. After thinking about surgery for about two years, it was just a matter of time as to when I decided to make the first step. “
How did your first consultation go? What made you choose Dr. Jalil for your surgery?
“My consultation with Dr. Jalil went amazing. The first time I met him he answered all my questions and fully explained some things I didn’t understand. Walking out of the office, I was feeling amazing and fully confident in my decision to accept a surgery date.”
How did you feel in the days leading up to your surgery? Did you have any concerns or fears?
“In the days leading to my surgery I felt anxious, but more excited to make this huge step in my life. I did have one concern and that was not waking up from anesthesia, but the anesthesiologist was amazing at calming me down on the day of surgery and explaining to me the statistics of that actually happening being very miniscule.”
How did you feel during the recovery process? Can you tell us about the ups and downs?
“Some emotions I felt during the recovery process were tiredness and anxiety. It was a new experience that I’ve never come close to before, but looking back now I think I was more excited over anything else. Not once have I had any regrets about the procedure. The only thing I would have done differently is going down in size a little more.”
Did you reach out to friends or family for support?
“My dad was the biggest supporter during my recovery. It was definitely a challenge for both of us because it was the first time either of us had the role that we did. Everybody in my life was nothing but positive and willing to help me out if I needed anything. Also the employees at FORM were also very helpful when I called them with questions and concerns.”
What advice would you give to someone preparing to undergo a breast reduction?
“I would recommend doing research only on the things you really have questions about. I turned to Dr. Google a few times and wound up down a rabbit hole that might have been best saved for after the procedure. When in doubt, call FORM with your questions. To get over the fears and doubts, I highly suggest you find a good support team. You only need one person you can really rely on to get you through this. Once it’s over you’ll have more self confidence than you can imagine.”
How do you feel about your results now?
“I feel amazing about my results and I would gladly have it done again, no questions asked. I highly recommend the procedure to anybody and everybody thinking about it. It gets better!”
